The Schaffner group has recently evaluated its strategic position and has taken some decisions which I would like to communicate to you.
In today’s globalised business environment, only those companies with a dominant position in the markets where they compete can be successful over the long term. Therefore companies must focus consistently on those areas of their business where such dominance can be achieved.
Schaffner Components Division occupies a strong position in the automotive, industrial electronics and telecommunications sectors with components and modules which ensure the efficient functioning of electronic devices and already achieves global success in these areas.
Schaffner Test Systems Division is also a technology leader in EMC instrumentation, Cable Electro-emulation, Power Supply ATE and test systems. However, it is not an international leader in the test and measurement business and does not have the potential to adopt a leading role with its current internal resources.
Consequently, the decision has been taken to divest the Test Systems Division. This will result in the eventual integration of the Test Systems business into an organisation which has the required focus and resources to further develop the technical strengths of the Schaffner test equipment business for the global market. The decision will also enable Schaffner to concentrate its resources on its Components business to enhance its leading position.
During the transition phase Schaffner’s staff will continue to offer our high level of service and support and will ensure that our products and services continue to create the value our customers expect from them.
